About

Jeremy Maggs is a media specialist with a career spanning forty years in television, radio, and print. He is also widely known for his role as presenter of the international hit show Who Wants to be Millionaire. Until recently, he hosted television news channel eNCA’s weekday lunchtime news programme before stepping down in early-2021 to co-found Bold – a strategy and reputation management enterprise which is part of the independent Brave Group.

Apart from his time in front of the camera, Maggs also has extensive media management experience. He acted as editor-in-chief of eNCA for 12 months in 2019. Prior to that, he was editor of Radio 702’s Eyewitness News for 8 years.

Maggs also knows his way around a radio studio having previously worked as a presenter for SAfm and Power 98.7. His programme The Power Update was awarded best current affairs programme at the 2017 Liberty Radio Awards. In the same year, he was also inducted into the SA Radio Hall of Fame. Maggs currently runs a successful media training and coaching business with numerous blue-chip listed companies as clients.

 Built on wisdom gained from decades of media experience, Maggs has developed a media training course for corporations and individuals who wish to fully understand the way the media works and to nail every interview.

The programme is designed to get clients interview-ready. It is a fast-paced, interactive course consisting of three main parts. Participants will receive an interactive lecture on everything there is to know about electronic interview techniques. Following this participants will test their skills with a “live” interview on camera. Finally, we’ll playback your interview and give real-time analysis and tips for improvement.

More recently, Maggs published his autobiography My Final Answer (2021) detailing his formative years as a veteran journalist and talk show host and his journey to becoming one of the most trusted voices in South African media.

Maggs’ expertise in print media can be seen in his frequent contributions to the authoritative Financial Mail where he writes on the advertising industry. He also edited the publication’s annual review AdFocus for over 15 years.
